How To Use Rice Powder For Face & Skin Whitening | 5 Top Ways !
If you are looking for natural ways to lighten skin then rice powder will greatly help. Rice powder also called as rice flour is just finely ground up rice. Almost every day our skin is exposed to pollution, harsh chemicals and scorching sun light and it does take a toll on our skin resulting in dark spots, pigmentation and dullness. Instead of resorting to harsh chemical peels and creams to get back the skin to former glory it is best to use natural remedies that are gentle on the skin. One of my favorite ingredients for lightening all the scars and blemishes is rice powder, rice powder has wonderful skin lightening properties. The bio active compounds found in rice bran are called ferulic acid, gamma-oryzanol and phytic acid. They are wonderful antioxidants and have been used in many skin creams to prevent skin ageing and to repair damaged skin. Even a simple act of adding a tbsp of rice powder to bath water and soaking in it has wonderful healing properties and can greatly heal damaged skin, you can read the study that supports this claim here. Regular use of rice powder on our face and skin can improve skin elasticity, reduce roughness of the skin and can lighten our skin. When I mention skin whitening, what I really mean is lighten scars, dark spots and pigmentation. Every skin color is beautiful but it will be more beautiful if it is even toned and rice powder helps achieve it easily by lightening all skin blemishes. I have given five skin lightening remedies using rice flour that I have tried over the years. All these remedies works really well in lightening scars, pigmentation and dark spots. Choose the recipe that you like and use regularly at least weekly twice to see good results. You can buy rice flour easily in all the departmental stores in India but you can also make your own rice powder easily at home. To make rice powder, soak rice for an hour and drain water completely. Now spread it on a thin cotton cloth to get rid of moisture. Once completely dry, dry grind in a mixer and sieve to get rid of any lumps and store.....

5 Best Clay Mask Recipes & Benefits For Acne, Blackheads & Oily Skin
Clay masks have wonderful skin benefits and I have always loved trying out different healing clay masks at home. The best, best thing about clay masks are that they leave the skin amazingly soft and clean. There are wide variety of natural clays available and you can easily choose the one that suits your skin type. Each clay has it's own unique properties and some of the popular natural clays are white clay | kaolin, bentonite, french green clay, multani mitti and rhassoul clay. If you get a basic understanding of some of these clays, then you can easily make your own clay face masks at home. Bentonite clay: Bentonite clay is made from volcanic ash. It is rich in many minerals and is very effective in healing the skin. Bentonite clay works by drawing out the toxins and bacteria from the skin. If used as a face mask, it heals all kinds of scars, soothes irritated skin and can be used even on very young skin safely. But remember bentonite should not come in contact with any metal as it will reduce the effectiveness of the clay so always mix the face mask in glass containers. Kaolin or white clay: Kaolin is a natural clay that is very very gentle on the skin and in India it is found in plenty in almost all the states. It is the gentlest of all the cosmetic clays and it does not strip the skin of natural oils like the other clays. It is also one of the main reasons that I love this clay. Due to it's mild nature it is perfect for using it on all types of skin and since it dries up firmly on the skin, it also increases blood circulation. When applied externally, it purifies the skin, removes black and white heads and softens the skin. Multani Mitti: I am sure all Indian women must have used or at least heard of multani mitti in their lives. Multani mitti is very famous in India for treating all kind of blemishes and one big benefit of multani mitti is it is very economical and can be easily found, especially if you are living in India. French Green Clay: Green clay is composed of iron, vital minerals, decomposed sea weed and plant material giving it a nice green color. It became famous after it was found that it was very effective in treating an infectious skin disease called buruli ulcer. It reduces acne flare ups, tightens the pores and removes impurities from the skin. Rhassoul Clay: Rhassoul clay originates from Morocco and it is reddish brown in color. Red clay, Moroccan clay are some of it's other names. This clay when used on the skin improves skin texture and skin elasticity. Like white clay, rhassoul clay is not very drying and it reduces dryness in the skin, if used regularly at least weekly once. Once you have familiarized yourself with the clays, choose the ones that you are able to source easily and start using them with the recipes, I have given below as a guide. Later you can tweak it to your own liking...

DIY Homemade Orange Peel Face Mask For Oily Skin & Acne
I had some orange peel powder left in my pantry and I was wondering what to do with it. I saw this recipe for orange peel face mask in one of my beauty recipe books and gave it a try. It was very easy to make and it left my face soft and clean. This pack is perfect for normal to oily skin and it is great for preventing acne. This mask has got multani mitti commonly called fullers earth in English, fresh orange juice, orange peel powder and orange essential oil. I have to say, this pack smells so refreshing because of the uplifting smell of orange peel powder and orange essential oil. Next time you buy oranges, make sure to buy organic oranges that are not wax coated. After eating the oranges, remove the pith, sun dry completely till crisp and powder it finely in a dry mixer. Store it in an airtight box and you can use this powder for a long time, but make sure to sun dry well. Orange peel powder treats dark circles, prevents acne and pigmentation. Multani mitti is an wonderful ingredient to remove the oiliness and black heads from the skin effectively and it also dries to a firm mask in the skin. I just got orange essential oil last week and I strongly recommend this essential oil to everyone, as even a sniff of this amazing essential oil invigorates and refreshes us. But always use essential oils with base oils or like in this face pack. To make the face pack, take orange peel powder and multanimitti in a bowl, add freshly squeezed orange juice to it to make a thick paste. Now add the few drops of orange essential oil, the consistency should be neither too thick nor too thin and we should be able to spread it on the face easily. This face mask thickens into a thick coat on the face. Once the mask is dry wash it off, you will find your skin considerably softer and smoother. When buying multani mitti, make sure to buy very good quality multani mitti from reputed shops, that has a clean fresh smell and store it in an airtight jar.

DIY Homemade Cucumber Face Mask Recipe For Acne | Cucumber Face Mask Benefits
Cucumber face mask is an easy face mask that can be made by everyone and has amazing skin benefits. It is so refreshing and cooling to use a cucumber face mask, especially during summer time. This cucumber face mask treats sun burns very effectively and this face mask is also ideal for using on acne prone skin, as it is very soothing. When we have acne any thing you apply on it burns and irritates the skin. If the acne is very bad, it is very painful and sometimes we can't even wash our face properly. Try this face mask, if you suffer from acne. It is very gentle on the skin, eases the inflammation, reduces acne and heals acne scars. This face mask contains fresh organic cucumber puree, fresh Aloe Vera gel, full fat milk powder and essential oils. The essential oils I have used are tea tree essential oil and lavender. My first experience treating acne with tea tree oil happened a year back. I had purchased a bottle of tea tree essential oil after reading about it's wonderful benefits in Readers Digest magazine. When one of my nephews, who is a teenager, suffered from a break out of acne, I made him apply tea tree oil with a cotton swab only on the spots. The acne diminished magically, the next day itself. Tea tree oil is very effective for acne, as it has anti bacterial, anti inflammatory properties. But people with sensitive skin, should not use it alone and it also dries out the skin, especially if used directly. It is always best to use essential oils along with base oils or in face packs. Lavender essential oil soothes inflamed skin very effectively. To make the face pack, take an organic cucumber, peel the outer skin, remove the inner pith and grind to a smooth puree and strain. Extract Aloe Vera gel from a fresh plant, grind to a smooth puree and strain it too. Mix both cucumber extract and Aloe Vera extract together. Add milk powder and mix together to form a thick paste. Add the essential oils and apply all over the face and neck. You will immediately feel the cooling sensation when you apply the face mask. Wait for it to dry for 15 to 20 minutes before washing your face with a mild face wash.

How to Make Multani Mitti Face Pack for Fairness, Pimples & Glowing Skin (Both Oily & Dry Skin)
Multani mitti face pack has been used by Indian women for a long time and I love multani mitti in face packs. Multani mitti/ Fuller's earth is a type of clay that is great for clearing up the blemishes in the face. Multani mitti face pack is beneficial for both oily and dry skin, but we have to add the ingredients accordingly. Multani is either sold as a lump or as a powder. If you got it as a solid piece, powder it and then use it. I got a big lump of good quality multani mitti 2 years back and it got over, just a week back and this time I got multani mitti powder. Instead of buying creams for fairness, try using multani mitti face pack regularly, regular use will lighten the skin tone, giving you a clear and fair skin. Since we are adding vetiver water and turmeric paste, it is also very effective for treating pimples. Vetiver water is made by soaking the vetiver roots in water, vetiver water has a soothing effect on the skin and together with turmeric paste, it treats acne very effectively. Though it takes some time to make this mask, this mask can be stored in the refrigerator and used throughout the week. Mix the multani mitti, turmeric paste and keep it in the refrigerator, to use add the required amount of fresh thick yogurt to get a thick paste. If you have an oily skin, just mix the paste with water and skip the yogurt. Yogurt in the pack is ideal for dry skin. To make the pack, soak vetiver root in water for some time and strain the root. Don't throw away the root, it can be reused twice or thrice. Rub a turmeric on a coarse stone along with vetiver water to get a thick paste. Now add the turmeric paste to the multani mitti powder and required amount of yogurt to get a thick paste. To use, wash your face well, pat dry and apply the mask all over the face & neck, wait for it to dry and wash it off. Use it regularly, weekly twice to see results.

DIY: How to Make Homemade Bleach for Face
I am not a big fan of chemical bleach and in fact I have not even tried it once in my life. You will also find the reason, why I have such an aversion towards chemical bleach after reading this incident. During my sister's wedding, we were planning on getting a bleach in the parlour. Even though I was hesitant at first even I agreed to get the chemical bleach done. When I arrived at the parlour, already two ladies were getting their bleach done. The beauty parlour lady had applied the bleach on their face and they were waiting for it to dry. I think the bleach didn't agree with one of the ladies and she started loudly complaining that it was itching and burning all over the face. I really got scared and literally ran out of the parlor that day. Though I have tried many natural bleach recipes over the years, this recipe remains my favorite and I use it often on my face. This bleach has got two ingredients- fresh mint leaves and fresh yogurt. This bleach removes dirt and grime on the skin and lightens the skin tone, if used regularly. A word of caution here: This mixture really burns once you apply it on the face but it really bleaches your skin. If you have a sensitive skin stay away from this natural bleach. Fresh mint leaves are excellent for bleaching the skin and yogurt actually reduces the burning sensation and conditions the skin. The burning sensation lasts for little time and then goes away. This pack takes around 10 minutes to dry out and you can wash it with a natural bath powder for best results. If you use wilted mint leaves, there will be no effect in the skin and there will be no burning sensation too. I prefer to pluck my mint leaves from the garden at the time of making it and I always use homemade yogurt for this pack. If you are using store bought yogurt try to buy natural, unflavored one. Have fun using this natural chemical free bleach at home!

DIY Besan (Kadalai Maavu) Face Pack for Fairness, Acne & Glowing Skin
I am sure, many of you must have tried this besan and turmeric face mask at least once. This mask is very popular because it is made with common kitchen ingredients, very effective and easy to make. This besan/ kadalai maavu face pack is very good for treating acne, skin whitening and it leaves your skin glowing. Regular use will also reduce the facial hair. Almost all Indian household will have besan and turmeric powder in the kitchen. I don't remember a day that I haven't used turmeric in my daily cooking. Besan/ Gram flour/ Chickpea flour is a flour made from ground chick peas. Though in Southern India, we don't use gram flour in cooking commonly like in Northern India, we do stock up on it for the few dishes we make with it and for using it externally on the skin. We call it "Kadalai maavu" in Tamil. But try to buy chick pea flour from reputed brands. Please don't buy gram flour that is bright yellow, as the gram flour might be artificially colored. You can also make your own chick pea flour by grinding dried chick peas in the mixer to a fine powder. Chickpea flour is full of proteins and it is great for the skin. We sometimes use it as a bath powder and for young children, we use it to wash the hair too. This face mask is very good for acne prone, oily skin. This face pack can be used by people with very sensitive skin too, provided you use good quality ingredients. To make the face pack, first rub a piece of turmeric to get the paste. Now add the turmeric paste to the chick pea flour. Add the required amount of whole milk to get a thick spreadable paste. To use, wash your face, wipe dry and then apply a thin coating of the paste all over the face. Wait for it to dry and then wash it off.

DIY Best Homemade Facial Toner for Oily & Acne Prone Skin
We can make really good homemade facial toners at home. All you need is a little time to collect the herbs and interest to make it. This homemade toner made without alcohol is very easy to make and it's good for treating oily skin, open pores and acne. You can add your favorite herbs to this toner and customize it to suit your preference. I like to add a little bit of alum to the toner along with the herbs, as alum is very effective in treating acne. Alum commonly called shaving alum, can be got cheaply everywhere. If you have got it in a block form, powder it finely in a mortar and pestle to get the powder. I have chosen holy basil leaves for making the toner, as it is also very effective for acne prone skin. But just use any fresh herb that you like, some good choices are fresh neem leaves, mint leaves and even lemon leaves will work great. This toner stays well in the refrigerator for a week. It greatly helps in reducing and preventing acne on the skin, if used regularly. Making this toner is a breeze, if you have the fresh herbs at hand. To make it, first boil the water with the alum powder. Once it has dissolved, add the fresh holy basil/ tulsi leaves. Let it steep in the water till the water cools down, now strain the water and discard the herbs. To the strained water, add a few drops of glycerin and your homemade toner is ready! Adding glycerine leaves your skin soft and smooth. But don't add too much though, just a few drops will go a long way. To use, take a cotton ball and dip it in the solution and use it both on the face and the neck. You can also use a combination of herbs instead of just one too. For me, it is always holy basil. Nothing can beat holy basil, when it comes to fighting of acne and keeping the skin blemish free.

DIY: Baking Soda Face Mask Recipe for Acne, Acne Scars & Open Pores
I tried three versions of this baking soda face mask and I have to say, it is one of the quickest way to get rid of acne, open pores & acne scars. Baking soda face masks also leave our skin brighter after using it. Of the three versions, first method was mixing the baking soda with lemon juice. It will start foaming once the lemon juice is added, now add pure unadulterated honey to it and your face mask is ready. I have a very normal skin, but when I applied this combination it started burning, so if you have sensitive skin, please stay away from this combination. I am writing this because many books and articles ask people to try this combination for all skin types. The second one was baking soda mixed with honey. I liked this combination and there was no burning sensation on my skin at all. So if you have sensitive skin, then this is the best combination for you. The last one was the baking soda mixed with plain water and I experienced slight tingling sensation but nothing much. It is also very effective than the rest of the two methods because we are using baking soda directly. To use, first clean your face with a mild face wash, mix the desired combination and using a chop stick apply it over the acne spots. Wait for it to dry, it takes around 5 minutes and then wash your face with water. Pat dry and apply moisturizer. Do this continuously, once every day till the acne disappears. This treatment works wonderfully for some, but might not work for people, who have sensitive skin. Apply this baking soda face mask only on the acne spots and make sure that your baking soda is fresh, for the mask to be effective. If you experience severe burning wash your face immediately.

DIY Apple Cider Vinegar Face Mask Recipe For Acne & Acne Scars
This homemade apple cider vinegar face mask has many skin benefits. This mask is especially useful for people who are suffering from sensitive and acne prone skin. I have a normal skin and every face pack agrees with me, so I have never thought about face packs for people with acne prone, sensitive skin. But one of my friends, who has a very sensitive skin always complains that she cannot use any face packs on her skin. When I was searching for recipes for acne prone skin, I found that apple cider based face masks does wonders for acne, so I tried it with white clay, fresh apple puree, apple cider vinegar and dried herbs. As you can see, all these ingredients are very good for preventing acne but are very gentle on the skin. Apple cider vinegar is amazing in preventing break outs, but if you have a very sensitive skin, it is hard to use apple cider mask directly on the skin. But when combined together like in this mask with other acne preventing natural ingredients, it greatly prevents acne without any skin irritation. White clay | kaolin| china clay is the mildest of all natural clays and is perfect for drawing out impurities from the skin gently. It comes in different shades and you can use the one that you get, but make sure it is of cosmetic grade. You can easily order it through online herb shops and is not very expensive. Apple puree is wonderful in bringing back lost shine to dull skin and tulsi leaves treats and prevents acne break outs very effectively. To make the mask, peel the skin of an apple and grind to a smooth puree along with apple cider vinegar. Now add the white clay to the pureed apple and mix to form a smooth thick paste. I used tulsi leaves that I dried at home in the mask, but you can use any dried herb that suits your skin and that you like. To use, wash and dry your face and then apply the face pack. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes and wash it off with a mild soap or a homemade bath powder. I like dried tulsi leaves in the pack as it is treats and prevents skin infections and it is also good for sensitive skin. You can also try herbs like dried neem, rosemary, but make sure to crush them finely before adding them to the mask.

DIY Papaya Face Mask Recipe Benefits For Acne, Acne Scars & Skin Whitening
Homemade masks are fun to make and very very effective. When I made this papaya face mask, I really liked how it left my face smooth and refreshed. Papaya contains papain, which is the main reason for all it's skin benefits. Homemade papaya mask has amazing skin benefits and treats acne, acne scars, pigmentation, dark spots, uneven skin tone and leaves the skin amazingly smooth and nourished. It also lightens the skin tone, if used regularly and can be used for both oily and dry skin. Regular use also delays wrinkles resulting in a glowing skin. We do get a variety of masks in the market for sensitive skin, but this papaya mask made with oats, papaya and olive oil is very gentle on the skin and can be used by people with very sensitive skin safely, as it does not have any skin irritants. This mask can be used both as a body and face scrub, but I always prefer to use it as a facial mask. The only difference between using it as a face pack or as a scrub is in how you grind the oats. If you are using it as a pack, grind the oats very finely into a powder. To use it as a scrub, the oats can be ground a tiny bit coarsely. Once the oats are ground, add the papaya and extra virgin olive oil. Grind everything together till it mixes into a homogeneous mixture. I always love to use extra virgin olive oil because I think cold pressed oils retain the maximum nutrients. To use it as a body scrub, just scoop out a big tbsp of the ground mixture and scrub it all over the body and wash it off. Because we use olive oil, the skin feels smooth after the scrub. To use it as a pack, apply it over the face, wait for it to dry. Once dry, wash it off. People with oily skin can skip the olive oil.

4 Easy Steps To Make Mango Peel Off Face Mask Recipe
I always thought, making peel off mask at home is impossible. But after trying this mango peel off face mask at home, I changed my opinion. This face mask is easy to prepare with very few ingredients and the result was incredible. This mask is made fresh mango pulp and gelatin. Gelatin is melted over double boiler and added to fresh mango puree and pure vanilla. Though it sounds very simple, to get the mask to peel off nicely after it is dried on the face, care should be taken with the measurements of gelatin and mango puree. The time, the mixed mango and gelatin mixture sits in the refrigerator is also important. The mixture should start setting, that is the correct time to take it out and apply. Usually this pack peels of nicely if done correctly. Mango with its natural antioxidants and hydrating quality leaves the skin refreshed and it also prevents acne. Please don't worry, if you don't get the consistency right and if doesn't peel of as it should, you can always wash your face like you do for a normal face pack. But remember if you let the mixture sit for a long time in the refrigerator, it will thicken into a pudding.

Top 5 Skin & Face Benefits, Uses of Strawberries: Strawberry Face Mask | Scrub
I love strawberries in any form and I especially love to use it on my face. Strawberries when used on the skin have these wonderful skin benefits: 1. It lightens and improves the skin tone considerably resulting in fair and glowing skin. 2. When combined with malai it treats dry skin very effectively 3. If used without malai, it reduces excessive oiliness of the skin 3. It also prevents acne, if used regularly and lightens acne scars. 4. When used with rice flour as a scrub, it removes blackheads from the face. 5. Since strawberries are rich in vitamin c, it prevents wrinkles and skin aging very effectively. The best thing about this scrub is it can be used as a face mask too, but I always prefer to use it as a scrub. When I tried this homemade strawberry scrub, the strawberries and fresh cream in the scrub left my skin smooth and moisturized. This scrub is ideal for people with normal to dry skin. It is especially useful during the winter months when the skin turns very dry. I have used fresh malai but if you don't have it at home, ssubstitute it with store bought fresh cream. To make your own cream, boil full fat milk and cool the milk to room temperature. There will be a thin layer of fat on top of milk, collect it and use. Fresh malai spoils easily, so always keep it refrigerated. The rice flour in the scrub gently removes the black heads, if used regularly. People with oily skin can skip the malai and make the scrub with strawberries and rice flour, it will reduce excessive oiliness. This scrub keeps well for a few days, if refrigerated. If you want to use it as a face mask, apply on clean face and leave it on till it thickens and then wash it off.

Benefits & Uses Of Dark Chocolate For Skin: Chocolate Face Mask Recipe
Chocolate, especially dark chocolate does wonders to skin. Any skin treatment made with dark chocolate leaves the skin amazingly soft and smooth. I have always loved chocolate treatments and even if I visit a beauty parlor, most of the time I will ask for chocolate treatments. A few months back, this recipe caught my attention, when I was reading a beauty book. I have always wanted to try homemade chocolate face masks for a long time, finally I tried this recipe last week and fell in love with it. I think it has to do with the lovely chocolate smell in the mask. I know chocolate by itself is heavenly, but combined with strawberries, this mask is really an indulgence. This chocolate face mask has amazing skin benefits. It treats dry and rough skin leaving it soft and smooth. It also clears all the blemishes like acne, scars and pigmentation on the face leaving it clear and glowing. I used dark chocolate for this mask. If you don't have dark chocolate, substitute it with semi sweet chocolate. But please don't use milk compound for this mask, as the amount of cocoa butter is very less in compounds. I used double boiler to melt the chocolate. It is one of the best ways to melt the chocolate without burning it. You can melt the chocolate in the microwave too. This pack is best applied, when the chocolate is warm. This pack dries very fast and can be used safely by all skin types.

4 Easy Steps To Make Honey & Oatmeal Face Mask at Home
This is my favorite face mask that I make often at home. This homemade oatmeal face mask recipe made with oatmeal and honey is good enough to eat. Regular use of this mask prevents many disorders of the skin. It treats acne, acne scars, dry skin, rashes, rosacea and pimples. It is very effective for treating sun burn and redness of the skin. We get only instant oatmeal in our local town and I always make this pack with it. Originally I was making this pack with gram flour. Once I didn't have gram flour at home and I simply substituted gram flour with ground oatmeal and I absolutely loved it. I have used home made yogurt to mix it but if you have store bought yogurt then please use that (just use one without any flavorings and color). Ground oatmeal is very gentle on the skin and when combined with yogurt and honey, it makes a great face mask. This oatmeal face mask can be safely used by people with very sensitive skin too. If you don't have time to wait for the mask to dry, then use it as a scrub. Just a take a small portion of the mix and rub gently on the face and wash off. Refrigerate the left overs to use it for another day. Though the yogurt will turn sour (even if refrigerated), it can still be used on the face.

Each time a banana turns over ripe, it gets converted into face pack in my home. The recipe I have given below is the one that I normally make. I have used rose essential oil with this face pack as I really love the smell of rose essential oil. If you prefer some other essential oil, please use that. I always have extra virgin olive oil at home, so I always use it, but you can substitute it with almond oil too. This pack is very good for normal to dry skin and people suffering from pigmentation will find this recipe useful. Each time I make a face pack at home, I think of the incident that I had with a store bought one. Few months back, I bought a neem pack from a very famous brand. I was really super excited about trying it. I mixed it according to the packet instructions and when I was applying it on my face, some of it went into my mouth. I was surprised, because it didn't taste bitter like a neem pack is supposed too as usually even a drop of neem in our mouth is very very bitter. I completely lost interest in buying store bought ones after that. I personally believe that homemade face packs are the best and this banana face mask recipe is one of my favorites...........
