10 Top Laser Hair Removal Benefits, Side Effects & Cost You Should Know!

One of the most common problems we women face is unwanted facial and body hair growth. Some of the common methods for unwanted hair removal at home are waxing, threading, using hair removal creams also called as depilatory creams and epilators. But these methods are temporary and hair starts growing within a few days again. So people who are looking for a permanent solution opt for laser hair removal. If you are planning to remove unwanted hair using laser get to know the benefits and side effects before doing it. Laser hair removal is the process of destruction of hair follicles using laser light and the results are usually permanent. How Do Lasers Work? Lasers works by a process called selective photothermolysis (SPTL), it targets only dark matter (melanin) which gives hair the dark color. When laser enters our body, it heats up only the basal stem cells that contain the dark pigment matter and it does not affect the rest of our skin. It can be used to remove unwanted hair from all parts of the body like face, bikini area, back, under arms, chin, upper lip, etc. Types Of Laser: 1. Ruby Laser: Ruby has a high melanin absorption properties making it suitable for pale skin. Because it has high melanin absorption, if used on dark skin can leave it discoloured. 2. YAG Laser: This type of laser is best for dark skinned people because it has week melanin absorption properties. Since this type of laser targets very concentrated melanin, it is not suitable for fair skin. 3. Alexandrite Laser: What sets alexandrite laser apart from others is the repetition rate making it useful for doing large areas quickly. Though it has long wave length, it still has high melanin absorption properties so it should be used carefully else it will cause skin discolouration. 4. Diode Laser: It emits light of both long and short wavelengths. This type of laser was designed for fair to medium skin types and has good melanin absorption properties. 5. IPL Hair Removal: IPL also called as intense pulsed light is not laser, it is popular because it is cheaper. IPL produces a broad spectrum of light and only some of them are effective in hair removal. They also don't penetrate deeply like laser. Laser Hair Removal Treatment: Laser hair removal treatment is a three step process of cleaning, shaving and scanning and depending on the area and thickness of the hair, a person needs multiple sittings. With each sitting, 15 to 20 % of the hair follicle gets permanently damaged and stops producing any more hair. The treatment is spaced between 4 to 8 weeks depending on the area treated. After the treatment, the treated hair usually sheds within 2 weeks and there will not be any new hair growth. Pre Laser Hair Removal Treatment Care: No natural or artificial tanning should be done 2 to 3 weeks prior to laser treatment. The use of sunscreen with higher SPF is a must before and after the treatment to prevent sunburns. Do not take any photosensitive drugs 24 hours prior to the treatment. Use of exfoliating creams and lotions that are harsh on the skin should be avoided. On the day of the treatment, perfumes, deodorants and makeup should not used on the area that is to be treated. Post Laser Hair Removal Treatment Care: Immediately after the treatment there will be some swelling and redness around the hair follicles almost like sunburn. Usually aloe vera gel that is free of color and perfume is recommended for it. You might experience the smell of burned hair during and after the treatment which is normal. Using sunscreen is a must during the entire course of the treatment. Avoid strenuous sport activities and external heat like hot water and sauna treatment for at least 3 days after the treatment and avoid sunbathing. If underarms were treated, don't use deodorants and also don't use any makeup and perfume. Don't use any scrubs or exfoliating products that might irritate the skin for the next few days. If infection sets in or there is blistering, contact your clinic immediately. Laser Hair Removal Cost: Laser hair removal costs around 3000 to 4000 rupees in India per sitting and this might vary from clinic to clinic. The cost depends on variety of factors like the density of the hair as more the dense the hair, the more number of session will be required, area of the treatment (larger the area, more number of sessions will be required) and it also varies according to the popularity of the clinic. Best Places For Laser Hair Removal: There are many skin clinics that offer laser hair removal treatment in India. Always read the reviews of the clinic and visit them before hand and talk to them about any concerns you have about laser hair removal before doing the treatment. Most of the side effects mentioned can be easily prevented if you do the treatment in a good skin clinic. You can also read the study that proves that there are very few side effects of laser hair removal here.

Ayurvedic Herbal Bath Powder For Fairness & Glowing Skin (Babies & Adults) At Home

Ayurvedic herbal bath powders have been used in India from ancient times and it does more than just clean our skin. Usually bath powders also called body wash and face wash powders are made with ingredients that have anti bacterial and nourishing properties and keeps the skin blemish free. Sadly the use of bath powders is slowly diminishing and nowadays younger generation generally prefer only store bought soaps and body washes. I agree store bought body washes come attractively packaged and smell great but we should remember that they also come loaded with chemicals, artificial colors and fragrances. Homemade bath powders also smell great if you add ingredients like kasturi turmeric and rose petal powder. Once you get to know the benefits of herbal bath powders, you will start using them regularly: 1. Cleans The Skin Well: Homemade bath powders cleans the skin well just equally well like store bought soaps. Soap foams so we think it cleans well but bath powders cleans the skin well too if not better. 2. Lightens Scars: Ingredients in bath powders like turmeric, sandalwood powder lightens scars really well if used regularly. 3. Removes Unwanted Facial Hair: Regular use of homemade bath powders weakens facial hair and helps remove it if used regularly. But the time it takes to remove facial hair will vary from person to person. 4. Prevents Skin Infections: Since most of the ingredients used in homemade bath powders contain anti bacterial properties, they go a long way in preventing all skin infections. 5. Make Your Skin Glow: Bath powders acts as a mild exfoliant and removes dead skin giving a nice glow to our skin. I have already given the recipe for a herbal bath powder using rose petals but you have to sundry the ingredients and then grind them which many found difficult to do. I wanted to share an instant version of homemade herbal ayurvedic bath powder using pure herbal powders that you can make under a minute! 10 Top Ways To Remove Upper Lip Hair At Home Naturally & Permanently

One of the most annoying problems we women face is unwanted facial growth especially upper lip hair. Many visit beauty salons regularly for waxing to remove the upper lip hair. But upper lip hair can be easily removed at home permanently with natural home remedies and I wanted to share all of them. But what causes upper lip hair? Excessive hair growth on face and body is called hirsutism and it is caused due to hormonal imbalance and is mostly common in women suffering from poly cystic ovarian syndrome (pcos). Some hair on our upper lip is normal and is mostly genetic but if the hair growth is dark, coarse and very visible then it is highly likely to be due to hormonal imbalance. The best way to stop hair growth on upper lip is to treat pcos and you can find how to treat pcos with natural home remedies easily here. Once pcos is treated, upper lip hair won't grow as thick and coarse anymore and you can easily remove the existing hair with the remedies given below. Different ways to remove upper lip hair? Some of the common methods used for removing upper lip hair instantly are plucking unwanted upper lip hair with tweezers, waxing, using hair removing creams and electric trimmers. Finally there are homemade scrubs which helps stunt the hair growth permanently but it takes time and depending on the coarseness of the hair might take months to see results but the results are permanent. I would suggest not using tweezers to pluck upper lip hair especially if the hair is thick as it injures the skin. The best option is to use instant hair removal methods like waxing or using an electric trimmer to remove existing hair along with using homemade scrubs daily. This way we can remove existing hair and arrest further hair growth simultaneously. When you continuously use both methods, you will find hair growth gradually diminish and over time will stop completely. The time it takes will depend on how coarse your hair is. To use the below given scrubs, make it into a paste and apply as a thick coat on the upper lip. Wait for it to almost dry and then start rubbing gently in small circular motions and then remove it off. Wash your face and then apply a moisturizer without fail.....

6 Best Ways To Remove Unwanted Hair Permanently At Home

One of the most requested remedies in wildturmeric blog is natural and permanent ways to remove unwanted hair at home. I wanted to share the different options available and the different traditional Indian remedies that can be used for unwanted face and body hair removal. From ancient times, women have used different natural methods to remove unwanted hair naturally and the choice of ingredients may vary from place to place but all these ancient remedies work. The few common questions we have regarding hair removal at home are: Can We Remove Unwanted Hair permanently At Home? Electrolysis is the only method that gives permanent results with just one use as it burns of the hair follicles completely and then there is laser hair removal which stops hair growth for a year or so but since at home hair removal treatments does not burn off hair follicles like electrolysis and laser, you will not see results instantly. But with everyday use of home remedies like bath powders, the hair gets scanty and over time hair regrowth stops and the results are then permanent. What Are The Methods Of Hair Removal At Home? There are 2 natural methods that are commonly used for hair removal at home, one is instant and the other takes months of regular use to see results. The first method for body hair removal is waxing, in which sugar is cooked to a thick syrup along with lemon juice and then it is applied to the skin and then a thick cloth is applied on top and is pulled apart in the opposite direction. Since the sugar syrup is very sticky, all the body hair sticks to it and when we pull apart, it removes the hair along with the sugar syrup too. This process is very very messy and painful, especially if you have coarse hair, I would suggest trying it once in a parlour to get an idea and then try it at home. I do sugar waxing regularly for my hands and legs, trust me, with regular use it gets easier and lot less messier. Also one best benefit of waxing is it leaves the skin smooth and it also exfoliates the skin really well. It also gives instant results and since it removes the hair from the roots, we can be hair free for at least 2 to 3 weeks and with regular use, the hair also starts getting scantier and scantier. Some women prefer shaving but shaving has to be done everyday and sometimes shaving also can result in cuts and bruises. The second natural method is using natural scrubs, when we use natural scrubs regularly it weakness the existing hair and over time it results in hair thinning. Here in India, we are encouraged to use bath powders from young age, bath powder is a natural but very gentle exfoliant. Bath powders does multiple things for our skin, it not only keeps the skin blemish free, it also reduces body hair growth over time. The most popular ingredients used traditionally for hair removal are turmeric, besan, nagarmotha (called korai kizhangu) in Tamil, alum and rice flour. Now lately corn flour, baking soda are also used popularly for natural hair removal. Some people complain that scrubs don't work for them even after using it for months together regularly, scrubs works best for people with thin, scanty hair. When we use scrubs regularly, thin, feeble hairs fall off fast whereas coarse hair takes very long time to fall off. This is the main reason that some people feel scrubs don't work for them. For people with coarse hair, I would suggest using both waxing and body scrubs regularly to see results. Also I get questions regularly from men asking whether ingredients like turmeric, alum, etc, will result in hair removal for them, men have very thick and coarse hair compared to women and using natural scrubs will never result in hair removal...

3 Top Ways To Use Alum (Phitkari) & Rose Water For Hair Removal Permanently

Alum popularly called Fitkari | Phitkari is very commonly used in India for hair removal. When we say the word "Alum", most of us think of it's use in shaving but alum has other wonderful uses and benefits too. Though there are many types of alum, potassium alum is the one commonly used for household purposes. It is also the one that is most commonly referred to as alum. The chemical formula for potassium alum is KAl (SO4)2.H2O. It is the hydrated form of potassium aluminum sulfate and it's nomenclature is potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate. Potash alum is commonly called Alum | Picking Alum in English, Fitkari in Hindi, Phitkari in Urdu, Padikaram in Tamil, Patika in Telugu, Phatakadi in Gujarati, Phatikara | Patika in Kannada, Sphatikari in Sanskrit, Patki in Sindhi, Phatakiri in Bengali, Phatakadi in Malayalam, Tawas in Philippines and Turti in Marathi. Alum has been used as a home remedy for unwanted facial hair removal from ancient times and it works really well and can be effectively used for both face and body hair removal. A mixture of alum powder and water or better still rosewater can be applied all over the face and body. This paste tends to retard the body hair growth over time. Alum when rubbed on the skin acts a mild abrasive and helps get rid of facial hair permanently. Rose water greatly prevents skin dryness caused due to alum. Traditionally after bath, alum powder is mixed with rose water into a very fine paste and then the paste is applied on the face. Let the paste dry completely and once the paste is about to dry completely, start rubbing in a circular motion and gently remove the alum pack completely from the face. Since alum is a mild abrasive, when we rub it gently on the face, it weakens the hair roots. With regular use, facial hair growth will slowly diminish over time. The time it takes to remove unwanted hair will greatly depend on how thick and coarse your hair is. If the facial hair is very thick it will take some time for the hair roots to weaken. Even though rose water greatly prevents skin dryness, if you have extreme dry skin, alum can still dry out the skin so always apply moisturizer after doing this treatment.....

DIY: How to Make Homemade Sugar Wax Recipe for Hair Removal (With Pictures)

This tried and tested homemade sugar wax recipe for hair removal is easy. The ingredients are just lemon juice, water and sugar. For the wax to be smooth, it has to be boiled to the correct stage. I also prefer to pour the wax, into my wax heater immediately after making it. Wax heater is a small machine that melts wax without burning it. It makes things easy because you don't have to go to the burner to melt the wax each time. Whenever you want to wax,  just plug it on and the wax beautifully melts to the desired temperature. Once the wax reaches the desired temperature, just shut the wax heater off and apply the wax with a spatula, in the direction of hair growth. Press a waxing strip over the applied wax nicely and pull the waxing strip firmly in the opposite direction. It is painful and messy, the first time you wax at home. But over time, it will become easier and pain free. Waxing exfoliates the skin, leaving it smooth. Waxing also pulls out the hair from the roots, leaving one to have smooth skin for longer durations. If we keep waxing regularly, the hair growth in the area also reduces considerably over time.
